The 3 men guilty of murder in the murder of Ahmaud Arbery

Jurors convicted Travis McMichael of murder on Wednesday for pursuing and shooting Ahmaud, a 25-year-old black man, while jogging last year in a neighborhood in Glynn County, Georgia.

McMichael now faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Jurors convicted him of one count of malicious murder and four counts of criminal murder

He was also charged with three separate federal charges of hate crimes, including infringement of rights, attempted abduction and use, carrying, brandishing and unloading a firearm during and in connection with a crime of violence. McMichael pleaded not guilty to federal charges.

The federal trial is due to take place in February. Since being held on state charges, there has not yet been a hearing on federal bonds. If found guilty of federal charges, he could face an additional sentence of up to life in prison.
