As a member of the EEA, Cartesi is part of the EEA community of organizations working to advance Ethereum and drive its adoption by industry. In the Q&A below, the EEA interviewed Expansion Leader Vinicius Farias Ribeiro on how Cartesi is contributing to the ecosystem to help Ethereum reach its full potential.

Please briefly introduce yourself and your company.

Hello, I am Vinicius Farias Ribeiro, responsible for expansion at Cartesi. I have extensive experience in mainstream business development activities and look forward to helping Cartesi bridge the gap between blockchain and mainstream.

Today, blockchain is a niche. Only 0.1% of developers have explored blockchain due to its drawbacks. Developers deal with very restrictive environments and cannot code smart contracts with consumer software. With an operating system like Linux, they could use existing software and tools to build blockchain applications. Cartesi is a Layer 2 solution that integrates Linux and standard blockchain programming environments, allowing developers to code scalable smart contracts with the software tools and rich components they are accustomed to. Cartesi bridges the gap between consumer software and blockchain, welcoming millions of blockchain developers.

What brought you to the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, and why did you decide to become a member?

While preserving its public roots, Ethereum is continually expanding the reach of what developers, enterprises, and consortia can achieve by focusing on criteria such as privacy, permissions, and open architecture.

The EEA brings businesses to Ethereum, drives innovation, and fosters the evolution of the web. This ties into what we stand for: developing a versatile Layer 2 Linux infrastructure to overcome scalability, compute, and infrastructure challenges for blockchain applications.

What are you currently working on with regards to Ethereum? How will end users benefit from your work?

Cartesi develops Layer 2 scalability solutions compatible with Ethereum. At the moment, we are working on computing power (Descartes) and storage (Noether) solutions for the blockchain.

Additionally, all kinds of developers can use our technology to code scalable smart contracts with the rich software tools they are used to. Without barriers to working with blockchain technology, think about the endless possibilities for people to create solutions for a fairer and more inclusive world!

How will the EEA improve your organization’s current efforts?

Together with other members of the EEA, we want to promote the use of Ethereum as an open standard to hold all businesses accountable. Specifically, Cartesi can help guide the next million developers working for these companies to blockchain.

We invite EEA members to join Cartesi Laboratories: an ongoing program managed by the Cartesi Foundation to finance research and development of decentralized systems with the Cartesi technological stack.

Which EEA programs are you most passionate about?

We are delighted to join and contribute to the working and interest groups of the EEA and to participate in the AMAs organized by the EEA.
