Others were injured in attacks by a man in the Norwegian town of Kongsberg, according to local police.
Several people were killed and others injured by a man using a bow and arrows to carry out attacks in the Norwegian town of Kongsberg, local police said.
“The man was apprehended (…) according to the information we now have, this person carried out these actions alone,” police chief Oeyvind Aas told reporters on Wednesday.
“Several people were injured and several died,” Aas said, adding that the attack occurred in the city center. He declined to comment on the number of victims.
The attacks took place over “a large part” of Kongsberg, a municipality of about 28,000 inhabitants in south-eastern Norway, police said.
The attack occurred around 6:30 p.m. (4:30 p.m. GMT), in the city about 80 km (50 miles) southwest of Oslo.
Norwegian Justice and Public Safety Minister Monica Maeland has received updates on the attacks and is monitoring the situation closely, the ministry said.
