Homes these days are filled with IoT devices that can use up power as many times as they need to be kept turned on. But it is just as imperative to keep households more energy efficient, if not for economic reasons, at least for environmental constraints.
Enter Samsung Electronics, and announced a new strategic partnership with Q Cells to provide “zero energy home” solutions.
Q Cells is a South Korean producer of solar energy cells and modules.
Both companies will strive to offer homes that generate their own electricity with renewable energy sources to reduce carbon emissions.
Samsung will supply an Eco-Friendly Heating System (EHS) heat pump and system that efficiently manages the energy consumed by various smart home appliances.
Energy self-sufficient housing
Essentially, Samsung SmartThings The energy service will be connected to solar modules and Q CELLS energy storage systems to support efficient energy consumption of household appliances.
For example, this setup could automatically switch the home appliances connected to the platform to power saving mode at night or in cloudy weather when solar power exploitation is difficult.
According to Samsung, a zero-energy house is self-sufficient in energy by using the energy that is taken from the house itself. This is achieved both by producing energy through renewable energies and by reducing energy consumption.
Jaeseung Lee, President and Chief Digital Officer of Samsung Electronics, said, “We look forward to our collaboration with Q CELLS to expand our presence and strengthen the Samsung brand in global markets. We anticipate great synergy between Samsung smart home appliances and the SmartThings platform, and Q CELLS solar energy and storage solutions.
To begin with, the partnership will provide solutions for home appliances in the United States and Europe where there is good demand for green energy.
