Photos: Raw emotions pour into guilty verdicts in Ahmaud Arbery murder case

BRUNSWICK, Georgia – Three white men were convicted of murder on Wednesday in the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old black man whose murder last year helped fuel a national debate over racial profiling and the self-defense.

Gregory McMichael, 65, his son, Travis McMichael, 35, and their neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan Jr., 52, chased Arbery in their pickup trucks as he drove through their Satilla Shores subdivision near the port town Brunswick coast before the young McMichael shot him down.

The men later said they were attempting to carry out a citizen arrest and that Travis McMichael was acting in self-defense as he only fired after Arbery, in his dying moments, rushed at him and his weapon.
