NYC could see first snowfall of the season over Thanksgiving weekend

New York City could experience its first snowfall of the season as the winter storm moves through the region over the weekend as temperatures drop to abnormally low levels, meteorologists say.

The airline delays are likely due to aircraft de-icing in some locations, Accuweather predicted.

If the rapidly moving storm stalls and suddenly strengthens from Sunday night through Monday, New York City will have a greater chance of snow accumulation.

Temperatures fell 8 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit below normal on Tuesday and Wednesday, Accuweather reported. As temperatures warmed slightly on Thursday for Thanksgiving, temperatures are expected to drop again by the weekend to reach typical levels from mid-December to the end of December.
