New and returning entertainment coming to Disney World in 2022

Walt Disney World just announced at Destination D23 event that several major live entertainment productions including stage shows and parades will arrive at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios in the most magical celebration of the world. Here are all the details on the new additions, improvements, and fan favorites.

First, we separately shared that a reimagined version of Finding Nemo: The Musical titled “In search of Nemo: the big blue … and beyond! “ arrives at the Theater in the Wild in Animal Kingdom in 2022. This new show takes place in the movie timeline Finding Dory, and when you take your seat in the theater, you will find yourself at the Marine Life Institute.

At the start of the show, guests catch the fish from Dr. P. Sherman’s office in The world of Nemo, which crossed the ocean to California. They tell the story of Nemo and how they all got there, incorporating many beloved songs and production numbers from the original show. The Walt Disney World Animation Team is working hard to get “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!” »Ready to open in 2022, and promises to share more soon …

Monitoring earlier announcement by DPEP President Josh D’Amaro, Fantastic ! will also return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2022. When this incredible nighttime show reopens next year, it will feature an all-new footage featuring live performers, stunts, special effects and more.

Tom Vazzana, show director at Walt Disney World Creative Entertainment, teased the work his team had done on Fantasmic. In a burst of excitement, he said, “This segment will bring hope and joy to your heart in a scene you won’t believe. I can’t wait to tell you more about it… but I can’t. So we’ll just move on. (For those unfamiliar with these events, Vazzana is generally loved by fans for his eccentricity, passion and authenticity.)

We don’t want to read too much of it in a vague teaser poster (it’s not even technically concept art), but the inclusion of details of Aladdin, Moana, and Frozen seems deliberate and noticeable. That said, it would be strange if a single scene exhibited these disparate properties. But it’s probably not a single scene.

The part that gets replaced is almost certainly the extended scene from Pocahontas, which lasts around 82 minutes (longer than the movie!). While this is probably a slight exaggeration, the Pocahontas portion is long, long enough for several replacement segments.

The Walt Disney World version of the nighttime show has always felt inferior to that of Disneyland, and one of the main reasons the Pocahontas party drags and dates the Florida Fantasmic. It would be like this show debuted in the mid-years and still featured a long scene based on Meet the Robinsons (sorry, fans of this, but this is not a classic) despite closing the promotional window for this film a long time ago.

One of my favorite “daddy jokes” is calling the Disney’s Hollywood Studios version Pocahontasmic! I’ll gladly take that weak attempt at humor out now, especially if it means a better version of Fantasmic. (It’s not exactly a smart nickname, anyway.) Now if DHS could just get an awesome dragon…

En route to Magic Kingdom, where the company will bring the live shows back to the Cinderella Castle forecourt stage in early 2022. There you’ll find a newly improved show for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration: “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Make”.

This will incorporate favorite scenes from the previous version of the show – Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire – with sequences inspired by “Frozen”, “Tangled” and “The Princess and the Frog” – as well as a new opening and a new finale. with Mickey Mouse and all his friends in their sparkling, EARidescent outfits. The show will also include a brand new original song titled “Where the Magic Feels Like Home”.

Walt Disney World’s entertainment management noted that the cavalcades that debuted when Magic Kingdom were incredibly popular with guests and will continue to be part of the park’s entertainment experience in the future.

Although statements like this are sometimes fluffy, I have heard this sentiment expressed many times and it seems like the kind of thing they probably have survey data to corroborate. As much as I love full shows, I must admit that there is something to be said for not spend over an hour in the heat and humidity of Florida waiting and watching them. I suspect this is the common sentiment of customers.

Either way, the Walt Disney World animation team have announced that later this winter the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade will debut in Magic Kingdom. This new cavalcade will feature an exciting roster of characters all embarking on a grand journey through the park.

The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade will feature the most characters of any cavalcade to date, including Nick and Judy from “Zootopia”, Baloo and King Louie from “The Jungle Book”, José Carioca and Panchito from “The Three Caballeros” , Miguel de “Coco”, plus Merida, Moana, The Incredibles and many more.

At the start of 2022, these cavalcades will be joined by the return of the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. This vibrant and energetic celebration of Fantasyland brings dozens of beloved characters, lavish floats and elaborately costumed performers to the streets of Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World Entertainment notes that all of this “and more! Is underway, adding to new experiences that began with the launch of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration. Hoping that Paint the Night Parade was included among the “and more” experiences, and it wasn’t just (yet another) rumor about this nighttime parade that had been held in a California warehouse, collecting dust, for over. three years. We will keep you posted!
