Kenya has the fourth largest cryptocurrency interest in the world, according to a new study by Broker Chooser. According to the study, only three countries – Ukraine, Russia and the United States – had more cryptocurrency searches in the past 12 months than Kenya.
Kenya’s highest crypto searches in Africa
According to a Citizen newspaper report, searches for cryptocurrencies from Kenya during the twelve month period exceeded 99,810. Alternatively, this means that there was the equivalent of 18 searches per 10,000 people during that period.
Ranking Kenya as the country with the fourth highest number of cryptocurrency searches in the world means there is greater per capita interest in the East African state than in Nigeria. and South Africa.
In addition, the study estimates the number of cryptocurrency owners in Kenya at around 4,580,760. In terms of crypto awareness, the study found that Kenya’s score was 5.5 out of a possible 10.
Despite the growing interest of Kenyan citizens in cryptocurrencies, the country’s authorities, as well as the Central Bank of Kenya, have so far refused to recognize cryptocurrencies. As previously reported by Bitcoin.com News, this denial and the resulting uncertainty is hampering the growth of digital assets in Kenya.
