Israeli army kills Palestinian in occupied West Bank | Israeli-Palestinian conflict News

The IDF also says it has launched airstrikes on Gaza, the fourth since a ceasefire struck in May with Hamas.

The Israeli army shot dead a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health agency said, as local media reported that Israeli soldiers and settlers opened fire in a village south of the city of Nablus.

Palestinian News Agency WAFA mentionned Palestinian in his 20s shot in the chest while standing on the roof of his house in Qusra, a village surrounded by illegal Jewish settlements and the colonization outposts.

Two other Palestinians were also shot and wounded “as they repelled an attack” by Israeli settlers on the village, the news agency reported.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the man killed as 20-year-old Mohammad Fareed Hassan.

An IDF spokesperson said the soldiers tried to break up the clashes between Israeli settlers and Palestinians.

The troops then saw a man throw an explosive device at them from a roof and “retaliated with fire against the suspect in order to eliminate the danger,” the spokesperson said.

Palestinians staged weekly protests against the expansion of Israeli settlements in several places in the West Bank.

In April, United Nations human rights experts mentionned Violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinian civilians was on the increase in a climate of widespread impunity.

Raids on Gaza

Meanwhile, also on Saturday, the IDF mentionned he launched airstrikes on “a weapons and rocket launcher manufacturing site belonging to Hamas,” the Palestinian faction that rules the besieged Gaza Strip.

The military said the raids were in response to incendiary balloons launched from Gaza.

Local media reported that a Palestinian was seriously injured in the raids.

The bombings are the fourth since a May ceasefire ended 11 days of fighting between Israel and Hamas.

At least 256 Palestinians, including 66 children, were killed in Israeli bombings that month, according to authorities in Gaza.

Thirteen people in Israel, including two children, were killed by rockets fired from Gaza, police and military said.

Egyptian and international mediators attempted to consolidate the informal ceasefire.
