Alabama beat up Clemson on the recruiting trail for the five-star defensive end Jeremiah Alexander, who announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Thursday.

Alexander is the # 11 ranked rookie overall and the # 1 ranked prospect in the state of Alabama. He’s a 6-foot-2, 230-pound defensive end, who could also play linebacker, from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama.

This is the second time that Alexander has committed to Alabama, as he first chose the Tide in March 2020, only to disengage in October. He considered other schools along the way including Georgia, UCF, Clemson, but ultimately Alabama won again.

“I signed up (again) because of what I was still seeing in Alabama,” Alexander told ESPN. “When I pulled out of Alabama I never really lost the love, I was just reopening to have fun with the process.”

He visited UCF, Georgia, Clemson, and Alabama, which helped him find out what each school had to offer and which school was best for him.

“I went there with an open mind and a clear mind, as it was the purpose of disengaging myself so that I could see other schools,” Alexander said. “I didn’t really compare them to Alabama, I just saw what they had to offer.”

After seeing the competing schools, Alexander always felt that Alabama was the best place for him.

“The family atmosphere, me being there every weekend,” Alexander said. “Whether it was for a visit or just to relax with the players. I felt that in the end I know it’s rare, but I felt that every coach in the ‘Alabama is someone I’m comfortable with. “

His commitment gives Alabama seven ESPN commitments in total 300 in the class, four in the top 50 with Alexander, Emmanuel Henderson, class No. 1 running back Ty Simpson, the double-threat quarterback. No. 1, and Le ‘Veon Moss, the No. 3 ranked running back.

With seven ESPN 300 engagements, Alabama is now four behind Ohio State, which has 11, three behind LSU and Penn State, two behind Oregon and Notre Dame and one behind Georgia in the 2022 class.
