Czech Republic vs. Denmark – Football Match Report – July 3, 2021


Denmark‘s Euro 2020 the fairy tale continued with a tense 2-1 victory over Czech Republic to reach the semi-finals on Saturday.

Thomas delaney and Kasper Dolberg scored in the first half as Denmark qualified for the final four for the first time since winning the tournament in 1992.

The Danes have reached the semi-finals for the fourth time in their history and will face either Ukraine or England at Wembley on Wednesday for a place in the final.

It was an emotional time for the team after the star player Christian Eriksen suffered cardiac arrest in their first group stage match. He has since been released from hospital after surgery to implant a cardiac starter device.

Patrik Schick recovered a goal for the Czechs, but they withdraw from the tournament after an impressive performance.

Denmark opened the scoring after five minutes when Delaney came home from Jens Stryger Larsenthe corner.

They had a great opportunity to double their lead 10 minutes later when Mikkel damsgaardThe shot curled over the goalkeeper but was easily repelled by the Czechs.

The game started to open, which saw Delaney directing a short-range effort off the post while Kasper Schmeichel made a good stop to deny Tomas Holes.

Denmark made it 2-0 just before the break when Joakim maehle delivered an exceptional cross with the outside of his boot which was converted by Dolberg at close range.

The Czechs scored a goal behind four minutes into the second half after Schick produced a fine finish of Vladimir Coufal‘s cross.

Schick is now leading the race for the Golden Shoe race with Cristiano Ronaldo on five goals.

Replace Yussuf Poulsen had chances to restore Denmark’s two-goal lead but was twice denied by the goalkeeper Tomas vaclik.

With 10 minutes remaining, Vaclik was called to action again to prevent Maehle from scoring at close range.

Antonin Barak almost equalized late in the game with a long-distance volley, but he missed out and Denmark held on for the win.
