The remaining structure of a partially collapsed apartment building in Miami, the South Champlain Towers, has been demolished amid fears of approaching Tropical Storm Elsa.

The operation was carried out in an attempt to preserve the site from the collapse. There were no bodies in the demolished wing.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Cava Levine said search operations would resume immediately after the site is deemed secure.
