OWINGS MILLS, Maryland – Baltimore Ravens strategist Lamar jackson was so grateful for getting his first passer penalty in nearly two years that he thanked referee Land Clark for calling him.

“Mr. Clark, I appreciate that call,” Jackson said after practice Wednesday. “I remember his name.

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonardo pulled the flag when he hit Jackson in the third quarter of Monday night’s 31-25 win over the Ravens. This was Jackson’s first passer penalty in 620 throwbacks.

“It was a pretty dope call and it was right too,” Jackson said. “He hit me in the face. It wasn’t like it wasn’t a BS call or anything like that.

Did Jackson realize this was the first time an opponent had been called out for brutalizing the passer against him since December 2019?

“It’s crazy,” Jackson said, shaking his head. “But like I said, it was fair. I’m glad I got the call.”

Last week, Jackson retweeted some fans who complained he didn’t have flags for the late hits against him.

“I just think we should protect all quarterbacks in the league, not just myself,” Jackson said last week.
