Asus Partners With Flipkart To Launch New Product Category On July 15th, Expected Chromebooks

Asus has announced a strategic partnership with Flipkart to launch a new category of so-called “affordable” and “simple” products in India. The first round of new products will be launched on Thursday, July 15, the Taiwanese company said. While Asus and Flipkart have yet to reveal launch details, upcoming products are expected to include Asus’ Chromebooks. Previously, Asus and Flipkart have teamed up to launch new Windows smartphones and laptops in the country.

The partnership with Flipkart is one of the major milestones in a series of other strategic efforts to deepen engagement in the Indian market and address the unmet needs of Indian consumers designed with in-house engineering, R&D and design resources , Asus said in a statement.

A dedicated microsite was created on Flipkart to announce the July 15 launch. The microsite features an image that suggests the new products would primarily meet the needs of people working and studying from home and include access to the Google Play store. Asus also places great emphasis on bringing new products at an affordable price. All of this indicates that the launch could include new Chromebooks.

Asus has a number of models in its portfolio of Chromebooks in global markets. However, the company has yet to introduce any of these models in India.

the COVID-19[female[feminine The pandemic has helped Chromebooks become a popular category around the world as people have turned to distance learning and work models. Chromebook shipments worldwide have exceeded, according to a report by Canalys more than 11 million units in the fourth quarter of 2020. The main players, including Asus, do not yet see India as a significant market for Chromebooks.

“Flipkart has been our long-term strategic partner in bringing revolutionary innovations to the Indian market. We are very happy and confident that this collaboration will lead to a radical change in the digital life of Indians, ”said Leon Yu, Regional Director for India and South Asia at Asus.

Ajay Veer Yadav, senior vice president, Mobiles, Electronics and Large Appliances at Flipkart, said the new Asus product line aims to “simplify digital access for millions” of Indian consumers.

In April, HP brought his Chromebook 11a in India which offers up to 16 hours of battery life and is priced at Rs. 21,999. Dell also earlier this year launched his Latitude 7410 Chromebook as a premium offer with a starting price of Rs. 94,500.
