July 6, 2021: The Galaxy S20 series gets the July 2021 Android security patch in Germany. Through SamMobile, the firmware version of the update packs G98xFXXU8DUF9 for LTE models, and G98xBXXU8DUF9 for 5G flavors. Additionally, the patch is expected to include a fix for the Android Auto crashing issues initially reported by 9to5Google.
It is not known when the update will be available in other regions. To check if the update is available for your device, go to Settings > Software update and press Download and install.
Previous updates to Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra
- May 31, 2021: Galaxy S20 series got June 2021 security patch with firmware G98xxXXS8DUE4 (h / t SamMobile).
- April 29, 2021: According to SamMobile, the latest update carries firmware version G98xxXXU7DUDB and includes camera performance enhancements and Quick Share enhancements. It also has the May 2021 security patch. The update also weighs 626MB.
- March 1, 2021: Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 3.1 update to unlocked US handsets (h / t SamMobile). In addition to the new software, the update also brought the March security patch.
- January 2021: Samsung rolled out the first update of the year for the Galaxy S20 series. He brought with him the January 2021 Android security patch. 9to5Google, the changelog did not describe many changes beyond that. The update itself weighed in at around 235MB. At the end of January, Samsung pushed the February 2021 security update to handsets in Europe and the UK. Phones in the United States saw it in early February.
- December 2020: The Verizon Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra have been first to receive the One UI 3.0 stable update. You can read more about the update at Verizon official changelog, but it brings Wireless Dex functionality, more granular Home / Lock screen controls, and improvements to Android 11. Samsung expanded its rollout in the US on December 3, as more and more Galaxy S20 series users were receiving the stable update. The update has also started to appear on the devices of some European users. On December 7, those on T-Mobile’s US network received the Android 11 update. A week later, the update arrived for users on AT&T.
- November 2020: In early November, Samsung updated the Galaxy S20 series with the November security patch. The update has been rolled out to phones running One UI 2.5, not the One UI 3.0 public beta.
