Agricultural career event for high school girls

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue Extension Women in Agriculture team is hosting the 2021 Young Ladies in Ag Virtual Forum from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday (April 29). Created for girls in grades 8-12, participants will learn about how to bridge the gender gap in farming and farming careers, majors, and scholarships.

Amy and Emily Dougherty, owners of Harvest Adventures at Dougherty Family Farms, will talk about their multigenerational family farm and discuss their new business during the keynote address. Emily, a former FFA state officer, will talk about her experiences as a student and career professional.

The program will conclude with a panel discussion on agricultural careers, specializations, scholarships and ideas of women associated with Purdue University, Huntington University and Ivy Tech.
